11 members of Turkish Medical Association detained over remarks about Afrin operation

It is reported that 11 administrators of the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) Central Council who allegedly became a target after Erdoğan’s very severe criticism due to their remarks about the ongoing fight in Afrin currently, were detained by the police. The announcement made by TTB a couple of days ago, had made the following statement: “War is a public health problem created by humans”.

It is also reported that after the custody decision, an operation was started and the houses of said members were raided by teams from Anti-Terror Branch early in the morning. Reports say that in Ankara-based operation, 8 executives of the Turkish Medical Association to include President Raşit Tükel were taken into custody.

TTB Central Council member Hande Arpat was taken to the TTB Headquarters to accompany the search after the raid on the house was taken into custody.

The administrators and members of the health labor and professional organizations who received the news gathered in front of the head office of the members of the TTB member physicians.
