Sığacık a neighborhood of Seferihisar (first citta-slow in Turkey) 40 km south of Izmir, lies by the seaside and is certainly among the rising stars of the Turkish Tourism.

Cittaslow covers a network of 20 countries and 134 members and the philosophy behind it is; slow food movement and preventing the elimination of local characteristics as well as maintaining the standards of locals and their life styles and the city texture from globalisation.

Sığacık is mostly popular for its fortress from the Ottoman Empire era and unique spectacular view of the yacht harbor as well as TEOS ruins established by Ionian tribes and dating back to thousands of years in the past.

The third popular (maybe most important for Turks) feature of Sığacık is the market place opened in narrow and stylish streets in the fortress on Sundays. Thousands of citizens from Izmir rush down to the neighborhood to taste delicious Turkish pastry (börek, baklava and what no) as well as jams and other specialties from Turkish kitchen, all made at homes by local ladies..
