As relations between Turkey and NATO get worse as compared to the past, Turkish President’s advisor says it’s time for Turkey to reconsider its membership in the NATO military alliance. Yalçın Topçu’s comments, reported by the republic and other press on Monday, came days after Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the country, and Erdoğan himself portrayed himself as an enemy and then took 40 soldiers from a Norwegian NATO exercise.

The advisor called Yalcin TOPCU is reported to have commented days after Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the country, and Erdoğan himself were portrayed as enemies at NATO drill in Norway. Turkey had withdrawn some of its troops from the drill, following the scandal.

Although NATO secretary general and the Norwegian government apologized thereafter, Turkey slammed the NATO administration and described the incident as “one of the greatest scandals” in the history of the Turkish alliance.

Regarding the unpleasant incident TOPCU said “This organization is engaged in a hostile attitude towards a member. Therefore it is not a must for us. Our situation in said organization should be reviewed by our parliament”. It is a fact that the unlucky incident has caused public resentment in the country.
