Aegean Region increases its contribution to economy by exporting more than it imports

Despite the various obstacles that Turkey has undergone for quite a while, the economy shows some good signals on many occasions. For example, such good news has come about the Aegean region’s contribution to Turkish economy. The export figures achieved in the region has exceeded the amount of imports recorded during the same period.

As is quite well-known, the Aegean Region has always been at the forefront of regions in Turkey which has managed to accomplish the best integration with the Western world in terms of culture, tourism and in many more areas. Now it is observed that the region have covered a considerable distance in the field of trade as well and contributed to the Turkish economy by exporting more than it imports.

In fact when we look at the performance of the region we can see that the Aegean Region exported US$ 8 billion 509 million in January-June period of 2017, while its imports amounted to US$ 7 billion 699 million. Thus, the ratio of the region’s exports to imports reached 111 percent which is a pleasing performance for the country.

In the first half of 2017, Turkey’s exports amounted to US$ 71 billion 583 million and imports were recorded at US$ 99 billion 658 million. Turkey’s exports accounted for 71.8 percent of its imports which tells us that the Aegean region is performing 30 points better than Turkey average.
