USA-YPGTurkey has harshly criticized the USA regarding images of U.S. ground troops wearing YPG insignias in the Raqqa operation. Referring to the issue Turkish Foreign Minister referred to loss of confidence in its former strategic partner.

Ankara has slammed US troops wearing YPG insignia drawing attention to the strategies of USA for the region and Turkey – supposed to be among most important allies of USA – and the conflict of far too close relations with YPG which is known to be related to terror organization PKK.

Turkey has been in trouble with PKK for over 30 years now and loss of more than 30,00 lives is in question so far due to terror acts of this group in the Turkish territory.

On the other hand it is verified that PKK has strong relations with YPG, another armed group fighting the ISIS in Syria and a group which has managed to earn support of the USA which is also troubled with the ISIS in the region.

After photos of US soldiers with YPG logos on their uniforms during an operation in the region were circulated in the media Turkish officials were seriously concerned and statements slamming this situation came one after the other.

Speaking at a press conference following the first session of the U.N.’s Midterm Review Conference of the Istanbul Program of Action for Least-Developed Countries in Antalya on Friday, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that such images of an ally of Turkey are unacceptable. “Our advice for the U.S. is that they should wear DAESH, al-Nusra, and al-Qaeda insignias when they go to other places in Syria and should wear Boko Haram insignias in Africa,” he said, saying it was a double standard and hypocritical.
