Ayşe Kulin.. One of the “most prominent” contemporary Turkish female authors

"Share this post on social media, spread the news"

AYŞE KULIN is one of the most prominent Turkish authors and probably the most popular among Turkish female authors. Her books are very informative” (and descriptive) as well as entertaining .. Ms KULIN has definitely a very loyal “portfolio of readers” after her success with beautiful novels such as “Her Name is AYLIN” and “SEVDALINKA” (and many more).

Ms. KULIN graduated from the American College for Girls in Istanbul. For many years she worked in various sectors of the Turkish media. After some (long) trials she was successful and is now considered to be one of the most popular and beloved writers with a very fluent style. In some of her books she  also takes us back to “old” Ottoman Empire times. This we believe is a great way to help contribute to the culture of a young generation under the exposure of a very powerful culture erosion at our times.

Like many Turkish people who love to read, the author of these lines also believes the author is a very good researcher with extraordinary description skills that puts the reader in the picture very comfortably in a flowing story. This is not to forget she is truly “classy” (as compared to many other authors – especially new ones – popular today).

Short story collections: Gunese Don Yuzunu (Turn Your Face to the Sun/1984), Foto Sabah Resimleri (Photographs by Foto Sabah — winner of the 1996 Sait Faik Short Story Award), Genis Zamanlar (Extended Times/1992). Kulin has written two widely acclaimed biographical novels and a novel entitled Sevdalinka (Love Songs). Her fourth novel Kopru (The Bridge) appeared in 2001.

Those who would like to have a taste of  KULIN’s style, we would recommend to try her books published in English such as  Rose of Sarajevo, Last Train to Istanbul, Aylin and Farewell.

WE LOVE YOU MS. KULIN 🙂
