Caterpillar executives in Turkey for investment talks

Turkey’s new investment incentive scheme garnered attention from world’s leading companies in a variety of sectors including energy, construction, heavy machinery and petrochemicals that seek to establish a solid footing in one of the fastest growing emerging countries.

Executives from US-based heavy equipment manufacturer Caterpillar and its local partner Borusan Holding paid a visit to Turkey’s Minister of Economy Zafer Caglayan yesterday to have better understanding of Turkey’s investment incentives and opportunities. Long in planning, thanks to the efforts of Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Turkey (ISPAT) in the US, the talks carry the potential to turn into a billion dollar investment.

Turkey and many of its neighbors are enjoying a construction boom which the heavy machinery sector can take advantage of, according to Turkey’s Science, Technology and Industry Minister Nihat Ergun, who first mentioned the possible investment by Caterpillar during his visit to the US in June.
