Cavusoglu says Iraq and Turkey determined to increase Trade volume to US$ 20 billion

After long years of conflict and turmoil in Iraq, Turkey was among the neighbors to rebuild this country. In fact many Turkish construction companies as well as others operating in various sectors gave Iraq a hand to recover from the disaster of war it had had to experience.

Today Turkey and Iraq are in good relations despite the provocations undertaken by particular foreign powers (known to many actually) and look forward to even strengthening their mutual cooperation.

Within this scope, Iraqi Prime Minister Abdul  and Turkey’s Foreign Minister Cavusoglu met to discuss issues concerning two countries. After the meeting Cavusoglu said “We will increase Turkey-Iraq bilateral trade volume to US$ 20 billion target. Also we will fight together to eradicate PKK (terror organization) in Iraq“.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu came together with Iraqi Prime Minister Adil in Abdulmehdi as part of the contacts in the capital Baghdad and a meeting closed to press was held between the two politicians.

Ministers Cavusoglu who made a statement on his social media account following the meeting noted that Turkey and Iraq would increase bilateral trade volume to US$ 20 billion. He also added both countries were in agreement to eradicate the PKK terror organization in Iraq.

Çavuşoğlu is also expected to meet with the Iraqi Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbusi and the Turkmen deputies as part of his contacts.

On the other hand it is reported that Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of Turkey will pay a visit to Iraq towards end of the year for the 4th our High Level Strategic Cooperation Council Meeting to be held in Iraq.
