Chinese vice president holds talks in Ankara

Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping visited Ataturk’s Mausoleum–Anitkabir and the parliament in Turkish capital of Ankara on Tuesday.

Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek had a meeting with Chinese Vice President Xi in the parliament.

Close cooperation between Turkey and China would be to the interest of whole world, Cicek said.

Turkish-Chinese relations have been upgraded to a strategic cooperation level in accordance with an agreement reached between the two countries in 2010, he said. “I believe that Xi’s visit will bring a special meaning to relations,” he said.

Chinese Vice President Xi said that they aimed to boost relations in the areas of politics, economy and security as well as ties between peoples of the two countries with his visit.

Turkey and China have played important roles in international and regional issues in the recent years, he said.
