Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 1.98% in January 2014

A rise in general index was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 1.98%, on December of the previous year by 1.98%, on same month of the previous year by 7.75% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 7.53% in January 2014.

The highest monthly increase was 7.45% in alcoholic beverages and tobacco

The indices rose for food and non-alcoholic beverages 5.16%, for transportation 2.50%, for miscellaneous goods and services 2.43%, for health 1.86%.

The highest monthly decrease was observed by 7.59% in clothing & footwear
In January 2014, the other group that indicated a decrease was communications by 0.60% amongst the main groups.

The highest annual increase was 11.95% in transportation

Food and non-alcoholic beverages (10.89%), hotels, cafes and restaurants (10.70%), education (10%), furnishings and household equipment (6.44%), were the other main groups where high annual increases were realized.

The highest monthly increase was 2.88% in TRC2 (Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır)

The highest increases in CPI were recorded in TRC1 (Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Kilis) region (9.20%) compared with the same month of the previous year and in TRC1 (Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Kilis) region (9.25%) on the twelve months moving averages basis.

In January 2014 within average prices of 432 items in the index, average prices of 40 items remained unchanged while average prices of 295 items increased and average prices of 97 items decreased.
