Court sentences prominent Turkish pianist Say to 10-months jail
It is reported that an Istanbul court has sentenced world-renowned pianist Fazil Say to a “10-month suspended jail” term for blasphemy.
Say was charged with insulting religious values of a part of the population (Islam and Muslims) in his tweets referred to as provocative by the court.
Say claimed it was a political case triggered by Turkey’s ruling party.
The court handed down the sentence after finding Say guilty. The pianist was not present in court during the sentencing.
