Economy Minister: We target US$ 1 bln exports in informatics sector

In parallel to many positive developments in the Turkish industry and business life, the country is now in position to raise hopes for a more successful national informatics sector.

In fact it was informed by Turkish Economy Minister Zafer Caglayan that the target of the sector was to to realize an export figüre of US$ 1 billion in the sector by the end of 2013.

Caglayan who made some important statements in press conference at Conrad Hotel in Istanbul, on Friday said “We aim to boost this figure to more than 10 billion US dollars in 2023”.

He also added that the informatics sector was one of the sectors with the greatest potential in trade-related services and they expected to reach USD 250 million in exports of Turkish films and documentaries in 2013, and aimed to raise the figure to 1 billion US dollars in 2023.

The economy minister went on to say that Turkish contracting sector had assumed 6,969 projects worth 237.4 billion US dollars in 100 countries since 1972 and also stated that the sector undertook projects in Colombia, Papua New Guinea, Somalia and Peru for the first time.

The Minister also informed that the Turkish contracting companies had assumed 433 projects worth 26.1 billion US dollars in 2012, which was a new record fort he country.
