Erdoğan says Turkey has become safe haven for foreign investors

On his visit to Kyrgyzstan PM Erdoğan said Turkey had turned into a  safe haven thanks to economic success achieved through appropriate fiscal policies and structural reforms implemented in the last 10 years.

Prime Minister who held meetings the Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev and Prime Minister Jantoro Satybaldiev in Bishkek, also attended the second meeting of the Turkey-Kyrgyzstan High Level Strategic Cooperation Council.

The Prime Minister emphasized the success Turkey had achieved in attracting foreign investors and especially referred to the entrepreneurial talents of Turkish businesspeople saying “‘Turkish businesspeople are trying to establish trade ties in every part of the world. There is no reason for them not to do business in Central Asia and Kyrgyzstan. Having a liberal investment climate to support the capital inflow is extremely important in this regard”.

Erdoğan did not fail to mention foreign investments into Turkey had reached a record level during the last 10 years of Justice and Development Party (AK Party) rule to average at approximately USD 10 billion per year. This he added put Turkey among the countries with the highest rate of increase in foreign direct investments (FDI) – Turkey attracted approximately USD 1 billion FDI per year between 1992 and 2003.
