Erdogan to meet with Merkel during his visit to Germany on 27-29 September
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a press conference at the airport before heading to the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly. Stating that he would go to Germany upon the invitation of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Erdogan said he would meet with Prime Minister Angela Merkel and investors in Germany
He went on to say, “Our Minister of Treasury and Finance together with our Minister of Trade have already had preliminary meetings on their visit to this country. We will have the opportunity to reconsider these during this visit. We expect Germany to play a constructive role in expanding the customs union and visa liberalization”.
Erdogan also shared that he would attend a mosque opening in Cologne on the last day of his visit.
Upon a question “if he would meet US President Donald Trump during his visit”, he replied “we will evaluate if there is a demand from the US, no meeting is in question at the moment“.
