Funds paid to Turkey by EU will not be cut

EU Commission President Juncker has made a statement explaining that there will be no cuts in the funds paid to Turkey. It was reported earlier that the heads of the European Union states and governments had agreed on the reduction of financial aid to Turkey, on German PM Angela Merkel‘s proposal at the summit in Brussels.

Regarding the issue Merkel had said that the EU was reacting to the human rights situation in Turkey. Merkel explained that following the first day’s meetings, the EU government and heads of state had agreed on the withdrawal of the pre-accession financial assistance promised to the Turkish government.

However, EU Commission President Juncker said there would be no interruption in the funds paid to Turkey in a statement he made, later.
