turkish_cement_sectorTurkish cement industry meets 11 percent of the world’s total exports after growing 2 percent despite the crisis. It is the fifth largest producer in the world with its production of 57 million tones and exports of 21 million tones.

The first production in the Turkish cement sector began 100 years ago with a capacity of 20 tones. The sector was exporting in 1990s after doubling its production capacity in 1970s. It became an important actor globally in 2000s.

Turkey is the largest exporter in Europe with a share of 11 percent. The country is world’s fourth largest exporter. Turkey exports to 54 countries and these products are used in 54 countries in the world.

The country has 64 facilities including 48 integrated and 16 grinding and packaging. The sector employs 15,000 workers.

The sector uses high standards accepted by the world and Europe in the production process. The sector uses its own sources for raw materials. Another advantage is the country is very close to most markets.

The sector is expected to have a growth rate of around 8-10 percent in production. When this realizes Turkey will surpass Japan to one step higher in the world class. The industry has gone through an important change with the accession of new players an acquisitions since 2005. Apparently, the large manufacturers would not want to stay away from the Turkish market that continues its high performance in terms of production, sales and export.
