French President Macron: “We have agreed not to stop relations with Turkey”

Macron says relations with Turkey should continue

French President Macron who spoke at a press conference after the EU Summit in Brussels made the following statement: “We have agreed that we should not stop relations with Turkey and we should be in a strict and hard dialogue” Macron also expressed that France would continue to support Africa in regards to asylum seekers.

Macron said they had discussed internet security and taxation at the summit meetings and there were positive developments in regards after the summit in Tallinn last month, adding that some regulations should be introduced.

Macron expressed leaders had also discussed the topic of Turkey and added “We agree that it is necessary not to stop the relations with Turkey and to be in a strict and hard dialogue. Thus, we need to determine the content of the relations between Turkey and the EU, based on the developments in this country. There are some alarming situations in Turkey. The Commission will examine how relations can be better, but at the same time, these relations are important to combat terrorism and the problem of asylum”.
