Hasankeyf Museum in Batman will display magnificent treasures from early ages

Construction of HASANKEYF Museum, where treasures found in archaeological excavations at the reservoir area in Batman will be exhibited, has been completed. Archaeological excavations were accomplished within the scope of work for “ILISU dam HEPP project – Conservation and rescue of cultural properties”.

It is reported that some magnificent treasures from the early ages of civilization will soon be on display to tourists at the museum in southeastern Turkey’s Batman province.

The museum which is built on 60,000 square meters will display artifacts dating back to the paleolithic, neolithic, chalcolithic, bronze, iron and medieval eras at the exhibitions.

On the other hand visitors will be able to enjoy visual animations related to the periods that displayed objects belong to  with the target to give visitors the feeling of “living in the period” they are walking through.  Moreover, visitors of the museum will be offered the opportunity to view wax sculptures demonstrating the lifestyles of people who lived at the place thousands of years ago.

The museum which will display historical artifacts from different provinces of the region, including Batman, Mardin, Siirt, Şırnak and Diyarbakır will shed light on the history of the region, making a great contribution to the tourism of Hasankeyf. The artifacts in the museum are expected to attract visitors from all over the world.
