ALEXANDER TKACHEV statement about Turkish tomatoes

Russian Agriculture Minister Alexander TKACHEV is reported to have said there is a possibility to import tomatoes from Turkey again in coming spring/winter period. Based on said report, TKACHEV said “”I think we will offer the Turkish side the following options: We can buy tomatoes from Turkey between seasons. For example, we can do importation in the winter and early spring periods when our vegetables producers cannot send products to the bazaar due to unfavorable weather conditions in Russia at those times.

The minister went on to say “I think we can give our Turkish partners the opportunity to return to the Russian market starting with exportation of small quantities.”

It is reported that the topic will be discussed at the summit between top officials of both countries on September 14th.
