In first half 2017 automotive sector makes 78.24 percent of its exports to EU

In the first half of the year, the Turkish Automotive Sector made 14 billion 359 million 485 thousand dollars portion of its exports corresponding to 78.24 percent to European Union (EU) countries. The sector, which reached 174 different foreign markets in January-June period, exported 3 billion 127 million 276 thousand worth of goods to 147 countries whereas it exported goods worth 11 billion 232 million 209 thousand dollars to 27 member countries of the EU.

According to the information gathered from the Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OIB) records, the Turkish automotive sector has exported to 174 countries in 5 continents developed western countries to be in the first place and 5 free zones.

As of the first half of the year, 11 billion 232 million 209 thousand dollars portion of 14 billion 359 million 485 thousand dollars total automotive exports were made to the EU countries which are Turkey’s biggest trading partners. The EU member 27 countries, covering 78.24 percent of total automotive exports, maintained its importance in the sector’s total exports.

Amount of exports to 147 countries outside the EU totaled up to 3 billion 127 million 276 thousand dollars only; There was no exports to Southern Cyprus which is a member of EU.
