Republic of Turkey, successor to Ottoman Empire once an almighty power in Europe and Middle East and Africa in particular has been the rising star in the region once again, for some time.

In spite of all the harsh criticism targeted at the government, it would not be fair to ignore the efforts and performance of current Ak Parti administration headed by Prime Minister Erdoğan, especially following the most recent favorable developments to include apology from Israel and so forth..

To provide a good example for factors to contribute to the rise of Turkey in the region, it would be most appropriate to refer to the support it has been extending to countries such as Palestine as well as others in Africa to include Somalia in the first place.

It can easily be observed Turkey has managed to expand its area of influence in the continent by linking its soft power tools of transportation links, trade and education closely with its foreign policy which has in return upgraded the country in terms of its prestige in the world.

On the way to achieving this well-earned reputation Turkey has not failed to implement a very wise strategy and once an African country has been identified for bilateral relations by the Turkish foreign ministry, a diplomatic presence has been established, Turkish Airlines has launched a flight destination and economic links has been established by Turkish companies.

Thus, Turkey besides providing assistance for relief aid and re-construction, has also focused on making services available as a good and reliable business partner in concerned countries.

As mentioned above not forgetting several serious issues the current administration deserves to receive criticism about, Erdoğan and his government have truly managed to accomplish some positive results worth recognizing.
