Koç Holding .. Locomotive of the Turkish Economy




KOC_HOLDINGKoç Holding, the only representative of Turkey in Fortune Global 500 list of the largest 500 companies in the World for a number of years, is the battering ram of the Turkish economy.

With its 28.845 million dollars revenues, Koç Holding is ranked 273 in the global 500 list in 2010 of the US-based Fortune magazine.

The total sales of the group in the last five years equals to the 7 to 10 percent of  Turkey’s total GDP.

Its exports  meet 8 to 12 percent of Turkey’s total exports.

Koç Holding is the largest service and manufacturing company in Turkey in terms of its sales, exports and number of employees by end of 2009.

The group owns numerous leading companies in their sectors.

Tüpraş, Turkey’s largest industrial enterprise and the only refinery company is also the largest in the emerging  European countries and the eighth largest in Europe.

Aygaz is the leader of the LPG sector with its market share of 30 percent and is the fifth largest in Europe.



Opet is Turkey’s third largest fuel distribution company.

Koç group is the leader of the automotive and white goods sector with its very important role in the development of said sectors.

The group makes approximately 50 percent of Turkey’s production and exports in the automotive sector and realizes one third of the local market.

Ford Otosan has been the market leader in Turkey for eight consecutive year. The company started to export the Transit Connect model developed by Turkish engineers to the US in 2010.

Tofaş on the other hand is the market leader in passenger and commercial cars .

As of today near 60 percent of the output of Ford Otosan  and 70 percent of the output of Tofaş are being exported to global markets.

In the white goods sector, BEKO which is a brand of Koç group is one of ten most selling brands in the world. Arçelik with a local market share of 50 percent, provides products and services in more than 100 countries.

The company which has production facilities in Romania, Russia and China as well as in Turkey, is a true global player and the regional leader.

The group is also involved in the finance sector with YAPI KREDI BANK which is the fourth largest private bank in Turkey.
