Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov has once again emphasized that all responsible countries need to support the Syrian conference scheduled for January 22nd, to ensure that positive results can be achieved on the way to ending the everlasting fight in this country.

Lavrov urged all “responsible countries” to act to ensure the conference achieves positive results, in remarks during a visit to Iran on Wednesday.

It is a fact that Iran and Russia back President Bashar al-Assad’s regime in the Syrian conflict, which has supposedly killed almost 126,000 people since the conflict started nearly three years ago.

The minister arrived in Tehran on Tuesday evening for talks with officials with plans to focus on the Syria peace conference dubbed Geneva 2. The minister is also to discuss bilateral ties and Iran’s landmark nuclear deal with world powers.

He will also hold talks with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday, Iran’s foreign ministry said. “All responsible countries must do something so that Geneva 2 achieves a positive result,” Lavrov said at a news conference with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.
