Merkel refers to chaos in Yemen as the biggest humanitarian disaster in the world

Merkel who delivered a speech at the Paris Peace Forum, hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron expressed she was pleased to be in the forum. Pointing out that international cooperation was important for peace, Merkel stressed that she was concerned about the issue of nationalism.

The German PM said together with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Macron and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan they had tried to find a a solution to the Syria conflict at the summit in Istanbul and added that a political solution was essential to resolve the issue.

Merkel stressed that one billion children around the world are victims of contemporary problems.

Referring to the situation in Yemen Merkel said, “the biggest humanitarian disaster in the world is happening in Yemen.” Merkel stated that the world should take action to stop this disaster and said that they could solve the problems and threats experienced in the world in solidarity.

She added that without the UN these problems could not be solved and said she supported the work conducted by UN in this regard and she would continue to do so.
