Minister of Energy says Azeri gas to meet Europe on 30 November 2019

The Minister of Energy & Natural Resources, Fatih DONMEZ has stated that the works of TANAP which will supply gas to Europe have been completed and that Azeri gas will be available for European consumers with the Opening Ceremony of European Connection on 30 November 2019.

The Minister said “the Southern leg of the Southern Adriatic Corridor of the Trans-Adriatic Gas Pipeline Project will be taken into operation commercially in 2020 thus starting the supply of 10 billion cubic meters of Azeri gas to Europe, annually”.

DONMEZ who presented the 2020 budget of his ministry to Planning and Budget Commission of the Parliament also noted that Turkey did not have electricity and natural gas supply security problems adding they continued to work to strengthen their position in this regard.

He evaluated the developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and said that Turkey would continue its comprehensive and long-term exploration and drilling activities in the region without compromising legitimate rights.

He also noted that they had conducted detailed seismic searches with seismic research ships Barbaros Hayrettin Pasha and Oruç Reis and collected 37 thousand square kilometers three-dimensional seismic data so far within this context.

He added that Seismic research ship Yavuz had completed its first drilling work in the KARPAZ region and shared following: “Currently, it continues its second task in Güzelyurt-1 location. Along with the Karpaz-1 well, a significant portion of the service provided by foreign companies in previous operations was realized via national means. We will drill 5 wells with our national ships in 2020 and pursue an active strategy in oil and gas exploration. ”
