Turkey’s industry will not be negatively affected thanks to precautions taken

It was stated by the Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank that the government was taking necessary precautions against the financial attack and it would not allow Turkey’s industry to be negatively affected.

Mr. Varank made a written statement covering assessments on June industrial production index. The minister emphasized that the “calendar adjusted industrial production index” in June had increased by 3.2 percent compared to the same months pointing to the previous year and added that Turkey’s economy continued on its target, led by the industry of the country, in a powerful manner.

Mr. Varank reminded that Turkey’s industrial production had grown by 5.3 percent in the second quarter of 2018 compared to the same period last year and added that the increase in industrial production in first 6 months had been 7.7 percent.

The minister emphasized that the increase of 17.9 percent in production of hi-tech goods in June  was an indicator for the trend Turkey aimed to capture and went on to share following:

“We want to make this rise sustainable. Based on figures recorded in May employment for 650 thousand people were provided in a single year. 283 thousand of this had to do with industrial sector. Despite trade wars witnessed globally, Turkey has increased its exports by 11.8 percent, in July. Thus, it reached the highest figure in July, in its history. The fact that exports of industry goods totaled to 95 percent of total exports has once again demonstrated the power of our industrialists.

Mr. Varank mentioned that recovery in export markets and lively tourism sector contributed to the performance of the industry and said “Our robust infrastructure in industry and dynamic entrepreneurs are our most important support in the fight against internal and external attacks against our country. Turkey will come out of the economic attacks incurred in the last period with victory.
