Turkey vows to expand circle of peace in the region
Ankara has vowed to expand the “circle of peace” in its region by continuing its efforts to normalize relations with neighboring countries and beyond, after opening a new chapter in ties with both Israel and Russia.
“We will make it through this process of global transformation and end up much stronger. We are improving our relations with Israel and Russia … We are mending the strained relations again and overcoming crises triggered by the Syrian issue, terror and artificial tensions,” President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in an Eid al-Fitr message on July 4.

Turkey denies reports it will allow Russia to use İncirlik airbase
Turkey’s foreign minister said Monday he had not suggested that Turkey could open up its Incirlik Air Base to Russia, adding that Ankara was open to cooperating with Moscow in the fight against Daesh.
Speaking in a press conference in Ankara, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said he did not make such comments on Russia using the airbase, adding that he was referring to renewed cooperation with Russia on Syria and the fight against Daesh. “I said we were ready were cooperate with everyone in the fight against Daesh.” Çavuşoğlu said on television, saying his comments had been misinterpreted by the press.

Turkey’s exports in June up
Turkey’s exports in June totaled $11.8 billion, a 1.8 percent improvement compared with data for the same month last year, a Turkish Exporters Assembly report said Friday.
Overall exports, however, have fallen by 6.6 percent within the last 12 months to $141 billion, according to the report. The assembly also said exports fell by 3.8 percent to $70.6 billion during the January-June 2016 period as opposed to the January-June 2015 period.

Charter flights from Russia to Turkey to resume on July 7
Charter flights from Russia to Turkey, which were halted due to rows between the two countries, will resume on July 7 following a recent improvement in ties, Reuters reported July 4.
“A charter flight application for a total of 17 flights from Russia to Turkey on July 7 has been approved,” the Turkish Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM) said in a tweet. Russian President Vladimir Putin officially lifted restrictions on tourism in Turkey after mending ties with Ankara over its downing of one of Moscow’s warplanes in November 2014.

Normalization between Turkey, Israel to be long-lasting, Israeli Consul General says
Israeli Consul General in Istanbul Shai Cohen said on Monday that normalization of relations between Turkey and Israel will be long-lasting and will benefit both countries, as Turkey and Israel signed an agreement to open a new chapter for the first time in six years.
He also added that Turkey and Israel are key states to ensure regional stability in the Middle East. He said that economic relations in general and energy in particular are crucial for both countries and noted that economic relations will be discussed at the ministerial level. ”Bilateral trade between the two countries could go up to 8 billion dollars,” Cohen said.
