As the crisis in Syria does not take a break for a moment, involved parties keep trying to work out a solution to put an end to killings and turmoil in the region. Turkey is certainly the country with the most concerns as plenty of undesired casualties have been happening at the border between Syria and Turkey for quite a while.

In addition to said efforts to bring a peaceful solution to the conflict, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has revealed willingness to take active role to end the killings in Syria.

A suggestion was made by General Ekmeleddin İhsanoğlu (secretary of OIC) to the parties capable of exercising influence on the belligerents in Syria to declare a cease fire on the occasion of the Sacrifice Festival to start on Oct 25th.

Ihsanoğlu hosted Turkish newsmen at the organization’s headquarters in Jeddah.

He said “Syria is the major subject concentrated on at the meeting. Efforts are underway for a cease fire to be declared in the approaching religious holiday”.

Mr. Ihsanoğlu paid attention not to mention names for specific countries and emphasized that having talks with Russia and China was of importance.

The secretary reminded that the transformation in Yemen had begun after the head of state stepped down and the same model could be applied to Syria.
