Opening ceremony for TANAP project to carry Azeri gas to Europe will be held on 12 June
Natural Gas Pipeline – Tanap Project

 

The inauguration ceremony for Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) which has been under construction by Turkey and Azerbaijan for 3 years will be held on Tuesday, June 12th. The ceremony will be realized in Eskişehir with the participation of President Erdoğan.

The project will make it possible to carry the natural gas produced in Shah Deniz 2 gas field in the Caspian Sea and other fields in the south of the Caspian Sea to Turkey first and then to Europe.

State and government leaders and energy ministers from partner and friendly countries, managers of energy companies and senior bureaucrats will attend the opening ceremony of TANAP, which will be held in Eskişehir on Tuesday (June 12th) under the auspices of President Erdogan.

TANAP will cross a very large territory starting from Ardahan at Turkey-Georgia border and covering 20 provinces and 67 provinces to include Kars, Erzurum, Erzincan, Bayburt, Gumushane, Giresun, Sivas, Yozgat, Kırşehir, Kırıkkale, Ankara, Eskişehir, Bilecik, Kütahya, Bursa, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, Tekirdağ and Edirne.

TANAP, with a total length of 1,850 km will reach as far as IPSALA in Edirne province and connected to TAP Natural Gas Pipeline at the Greek border to transfer natural gas from this point to European countries.

Thanks to the project with total capacity of 16 billion cubic meters, 10 billion cubic meters of gas will be carried to Europe and 6 billion cubic meters will be used in Turkey.

At the first stage, Pipelines and Petroleum Transportation Inc. (BOTAŞ) will be able to get 2 billion cubic meters of gas from Eskişehir until June 2019, which will be increased by 2 billion cubic meters every year and reach 6 billion cubic meters in 2021.
