Opposition in solidarity regarding force practiced against “Saturday Mothers” in Istanbul

Kemal KILICDAROGLU, leader of CHP (main opposition party) reacted to the police intervention in the protest demonstration of “Saturday Mothers” which was supposed to take place for the 700th time (week).

KILICDAROGLU said, “I felt very sad when I heard the news.  These mothers have been demanding from the government that the graves of their lost children are found for 700 weeks. Could there be a more justifiable demand for a mother? They require the government to find the graves so they can bring flowers and pray before their gravestones.”

He went on to say, “None of the promises made by Erdogan during his period as prime minister have been kept. Now we need to understand these mothers. To use force against these mothers, to hurt them with pepper gas … A human being needs to have some conscience, morality and faith. They have none of it”.
