Outlet Centers in Fashion in Turkey

Together with the rising consumer awareness in Turkey, outlets have become places where quality products are found at affordable prices.

The popularity of the outlet concept is increasing day by day and outlets are able to meet consumer expectations with regard to affordable prices. This in return plays a role in the increase in the frequency of visitors to the outlet-themed shopping malls.

There are a total of over 400 shopping malls occupying over 12 million sqm floor space in Turkey, including over 100 malls in Istanbul. It goes without saying the most popular and largest malls are located in Istanbul.

Those who want to spend less but refuse to give up using popular brand goods prefer to shop in outlet stores. (2011)

“Lower prices” is the most important factor that attracts the consumer to the outlet stores.

The number of such stores is swiftly increasing in densely populated big cities such as Istanbul, in particular.Together with the economic crisis the interest in outlet stores where famous brands are sold at much lower prices has risen and the upper-middle income group has also joined the ranks of the consumer group shopping at outlets.

These shops offer clearance and defective product sales as well as others at factory sales prices and have turned into giant shopping, today. They started to operate in neighborhoods far from the city where manufacturing facilities were located, initially. Today there are quite a few such retail spots in many neighborhoods selling domestic and foreign brands.

Mainly clothing, electronics, food and home textile products are bought in bulk in the outlet stores. Today these stores are known to offer “end-of-season” products and not only defective ones, any more.

Such retail points have attracted a higher demand in Anatolia as compared to Istanbul.Big cities are literally saturated with such facilities and the attraction for Anatolia now.
