Pekcan & Varank to attend G20 Conference of Ministers of Commerce in Japan

Turkey’s Trade Minister Ruhsar PEKCAN and Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa VARANK will attend the G20 Conference of Ministers of Commerce and Digital Economy to be held in Tsukuba, Japan on 8-9 June.

During the Joint Session of the Ministers of Commerce and Digital Economy, the policy recommendations of the B20 to the governments of the G20 countries on the topic “The Link between Trade and Digital Economy” will be discussed.

At the G20 Meeting of Ministers of Trade to be attended by Minister PEKCAN issues such as “The G20 Dialogue on Current Developments in International Trade, Supporting Trade and Investment to Contribute to Sustainable and Inclusive Growth, “Creating a Strong Business Environment to Support Market-Based Investment Decisions and “World Trade Organization (WTO) Reform as well as recent developments in bilateral and regional trade agreements ” will be discussed.

In addition to the panels, bilateral meetings will be among important agenda items of the event. In this context, PEKCAN is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Jim Carr, Canadian Minister of International Trade Diversity and sign the establishment agreement for the Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

On the other hand Ministers Pekcan and Varank are expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Hiroshige Seko, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry. On this occasion VARANK will be meeting with Peter Altmaier, German Minister of Economy and Energy, as well.

At the meeting of Ministers in charge of Digital Economy to be attended by VARANK topics such as “Safe Flow of Information and Data, Governance Innovation, Human Centered Artificial Intelligence, UN Development Goals and Inclusion in the Context of Digitalization and Digital Security” will be discussed.

With the declaration to be adopted at the end of the meeting, the G-20 ministers will present their policy recommendations and visions to the member countries. At the meeting VARANK will talk about Turkey’s digital breakthrough and policies and support in this area as well as future-oriented projects.
