Erdogan PutinAfter the decision to restore broken ties between Russia and Turkey, Putin and Erdoğan have agreed to meet in the first week of August, as reported by Turkish presidential sources on Sunday.

It is also reported that parties reached said agreement over a telephone call made by the Russian President to convey his support to Turkey following Friday’s attempted coup. In the conversation Putin is said to comment that he stood by Turkey’s elected government and offered his condolences to the victims of the failed coup.

After the worsening of ties between two countries due to downing of the jet plane by Turkey last November, said meeting is supposed to be the first face-to-face meeting between Erdogan and Putin.

At the time said incident had caused a suspension of relations between the two countries and damaged their economies mutually. The conflict was resolved last month following a telephone call between parties and an apology from the Turkish side.
