Ambassador gives reception to celebrate the EU presidency of the Netherlands

Ambassador Cornelis Kees van Rij gave a reception to celebrate the Netherlands taking over the EU presidency for 6 months. Guests enjoyed a baroque concert performed by the New Dutch Academy on this occasion.

The reception held at the Ankara State Opera Ballet (ADOBE) facility was attended by EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Volkan BOZKIR, EU Delegation to Turkey President Hansjörg Haber, Mehmet Haberal and many ambassadors as well as representatives of foreign missions.

EU Minister BOZKIR speaking on this occasion said that Turkey-EU relations had come to a very important point and paradigm had changed. To summarize BOZKIR also said



“Turkey is at a point where it needs the European Union most. The European Union is at a point where it needs Turkey most, as well. The fact that our mutual benefits have come together and emerging of such a picture at a time we need each other in terms of the economic crisis and refugee problems we have been facing as well as the combat against terror provides an opportunity for us to look at the future with confidence.”

Ambassador of the Netherlands Rijen also said they looked forward to experiencing a new era of constructive and intensive period of cooperation between the EU and Turkey,

He also added “The diplomatic relations between the Netherlands and Turkey has been continuing in a developing manner since, 1612. As for me, I will do my best for further deepening and development of our relations as the Netherlands ambassador”. The reception continued and ended with the New Dutch Academy Baroque Concert.

Our evaluation of the reception was “It is good to know that the Netherlands and Turkey despite several negativities over the globe recently have not failed to maintain their good relations both in terms of cultural affairs as well as business relations”.
