Report: Turkey’s Consumer Price Index, September 2013

Down below are figures pertaining to Consumer Price Index (CPI) in Turkey for September 2013;

Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.77% in September 2013

A rise in general index was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 0.77%, on December of the previous year by 5.01%, on same month of the previous year by 7.88% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 7.32% in September 2013.

The highest monthly increase was 2.52% in education

The indices rose for transportation 1.99%, for hotels, cafes and restaurants 1.48%, for miscellaneous goods and services 0.94%, for furnishings and household equipment 0.77%.

Monthly decrease was observed by 2.28% only in clothing and footwear

In September 2013, the indices declined only for clothing and footwear amongst the main groups by 2.28%.

The highest annual increase was 15.69% in alcoholic beverages and tobacco

Education (10.14%), transportation (9.16%), hotels, cafes and restaurants (9.13%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (8.73%) were the other main groups where high annual increases were realized.

The highest monthly increase was 1.09% in TR10 (İstanbul)

The highest increases in CPI were recorded in TR71 (Kırıkkale, Aksaray, Niğde, Nevşehir, Kırşehir) region (6.16%) compared with the December of the previous year, TRC1 (Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Kilis) region (10.00%) compared with the same month of the previous year and in TRC1 (Gaziantep, Adıyaman, Kilis) region (8.20%) on the twelve months moving averages basis.

In September 2013 within average prices of 437 items in the index, average prices of 66 items remained unchanged while average prices of 301 items increased and average prices of 70 items decreased.
