Retail sales volume increases by 1.3 percent in July 2018 over the previous month.

Based on data circulated by Turkey’s Statistical Institute (TSI) the retail sales volume index increased by 1.3 percent in July 2018 over the previous month. This is according to seasonally and calendar adjusted retail prices. In said month, food, beverages and tobacco sales increased by 1.3 percent, non-food (excluding automotive fuel) and automotive fuel sales increased by 0.9 percent and 2.6 percent, respectively.

Calendar adjusted retail sales volume with fixed prices increased by 3.1 percent in July compared to the same month of the previous year. In this period, food, beverages and tobacco sales increased by 8.2 percent, non-food (excluding automotive fuel) sales increased by 1.3 percent and automotive fuel sales rose by 0.9 percent.

These figures are rather interesting at a time when the country faced economic problems and currency exchange rate issues. It also shows despite said issues the economy keeps going.
