Some experts forecast US dollar / TL rate will climb to 4.20 in medium term

Some experts believe dollar may rise even more against lira at a time risk appetite has tendency to decline. They forecast “The next important level markets will see will be 3.90 USD / TL”. They also draw attention that dollar/TL rate is capable of very rapid upwards momentum and that Turkish Lira may also show a fragile structure, in same period. Same experts forecast US dollar / TL rate will climb to 4.20 in medium term.

The fact that TL has been one of the currencies with highest return will continue to attract foreign investors. However, as the risk appetite declines, the interest for currencies of emerging markets also decreases. This being the case, Turkish Lira looks fragile owing to rising current account deficit and geopolitical risks.

The dollar rose above 3.85 against the Lira today, which was the highest level since 18 December, with the euro climbing to a new peak of 4.75.
