TUBITAK of Turkey starts preparing road map on artificial intelligence and blockchains

Turkey which needs to take action to catch up with developments in industry has given TUBITAK an important assignment to prepare a road map on artificial intelligence and block chains. Mr. VARANK, Minister of Industry and Trade who is in charge of this matter announced that required effort was being made to eliminate the negative consequences of artificial intelligence and to turn the benefits into opportunities for the country.

Providing information about issues such as support, data protection security, legislative preparations, ethical rules and training of expert personnel etc. the Minister noted that 568 companies currently worked on the issues of AI and 30 companies worked on blockchain.

Mr. VARANK also shared that 246 people were granted scholarships in the field of artificial intelligence between 2008 and 2019 and 89 projects worth TL 28 million were supported.

The Minister also noted that a support incentive of TL 383 million (approx.) was provided for AI in the field of industry and R&D during the period of 2012 – 2019.
