Turkey draws in $12.3 billion of FDI in 2016 despite decrease in investments globally

The World Investment Report 2017 prepared by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) says Turkey drew in $12.3 billion of FDI in 2016 2016 despite the global decline in investments and a vibrant 2016.

The report which highlighted countries with diversified industrial manufacturing despite having no oil resources mentioned that Turkey had also actively engaged in investment treaties with countries around the world making 2017 a very productive year for the country.

The report showed that Turkey was the most active country in terms o efforts to attract FDI as it had signed seven international investment agreements in areas such as mutual encouragement and investment protection. Countries such as Canada, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates followed Turkey each signing 4 international agreements. The report stated that Iran and Nigeria had signed three international investment agreements each.
