Turkey enjoys increase in number of tourists with 27 million in first 8 months

Turkey which has been breaking records in tourism for a while is reported to have hosted 27 million 23 thousand 134 foreign visitors in first 8 months of the current year corresponding to a huge increase of 22.92 percent as compared to same period previous year.

Based on data provided by The Ministry of Culture and Tourism the country hosted 5 million 383 thousand 332 million foreign visitors in August corresponding to an increase of 15.56 percent as compared to August last year.

In the ranking of countries sending visitors to Turkey, Russia took first place in August, with 910 thousand 466 people. Germany ranked second with 654 thousand 737 people and England ranked third with 363,433 people. These countries were followed by Bulgaria and Georgia

The most visited provinces were as follows;

Antalya with 2 million 74 thousand visitors (20.1 percent increase), Istanbul with 1 million391 thousand visitors (11.4 percent increase) and Muğla with 535 thousand visitors (9.95 percent increase).
