Turkey exports 180 million dollars of eggs to 19 countries during first 7 months 2017

According to a report based on data from the Turkish Statistical Institute, 289 thousand tons of eggs were sold to 23 countries last year, and 289.4 million dollars income was obtained in 2016. Iraq ranked number one among egg importing countries from Turkey with US$ 232.7 million. This country was followed by Syria with 18.2 million dollars and Saudi Arabia with 12 million dollars.

In the first 7 months of this year, 171 thousand tons of eggs were exported to 19 countries, amounting to US$ 180 million. This year, the largest quantity of eggs was sold to Iraq as well with US$ 154.8 million. Iraq was followed by Azerbaijan with US$ 5.5 million, United Arab Emirates with US$ 3.3 million, Saudi Arabia and Syria with $ 3.1 million, and Qatar with $ 2.6 million. Eggs were sent from Turkey to Libya, Somalia, Iran, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, Sudan, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Lebanon, Georgia and Afghanistan during this period.

On the other hand, following the crisis that started with the finding of insecticide “FIPRONIL” in eggs produced in some European countries, the monitoring process for the subject is also continuing in Turkey. In the analysis made in Turkey, no substance was detected in the eggs.
