Turkey exports US$ 5 million worth of cherries to Russia in first 5 months 2017

In the 5 months of the year, 2 thousand 409 tons of cherries were exported from Turkey to the Russian Federation and more than 5 million dollars were generated. Cherry exports increased by 135 percent on a value basis and by 54 percent on an income basis, compared to the same period last year

According to the compilation made from the data of Eastern Black Sea Exporters Association (DKİB), it was observed that during the 5 months of the year, 17 items of fruit and vegetables such as lemon, mandarin, onion, grapefruit, apricot, peach, orange, cherry, quince, cabbage, plum, potato, cauliflower, Melon, leek and pepper had been exported from Turkey to Russia. While the highest increase on quantity basis was experienced in cherry with 135 percent, this was followed by quince with 47 percent, cabbage with 42 percent and lemon with 40 percent. When evaluated in terms of income, the highest increase was in quince with 67 percent and cherry with 54 percent.

In the same period last year, Turkey exported 27 thousand tons of cherries to Russia and received 3 million 276 thousand 186 dollars income. 538 tons of cherry exports were made from Eastern Black Sea. 1 million 346 thousand 819 dollars of revenue from the cherry export made from the region was recorded. Last year, 98 tons of lemon was exported from the region corresponding to 220 thousand 240 dollars of income. The eastern Black Sea region has achieved 26 percent of the cherry exports from Turkey to Russia.
