Turkey expresses interest in Libyan oil

After having met with President of Libyan General National Congress Mohammed el-Magariaf on Sunday, Turkish Energy Minister made following statement;

“We came together with Libyan Oil Minister Abdulhadi al-Arusi, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Ali Muhammad Muhayrik and President of Libyan General National Congress Mohammed el-Magariaf separately. I leave Libya satisfied after all our beneficial talk”.

The Minister speaking to journalists after his meeting with Mohammed el-Magariaf said that they had discussed what Turkey could contribute to Libya during the normalization period and added “Libya has come out of a war. This normalization period will be achieved with the opening and management of new petrol fields. We asked for new petrol fields to operate”.

The Minister also emphasized the importance of the meeting for the energy sector and said that they were planning to hold another trip to Libya in the coming months.

YILDIZ reminded that Libyan engineers and technicians were invited to Turkey to further their educational studies
