Turkey receives substantial amount of investments from Gulf region




The direct investment in Turkey from the Gulf countries increased by 397 percent in January-May this year compared to the same period last year. In the same period, the amount of investments from the Near and Middle East countries to Turkey increased by 189 percent and reached to 824 million dollars from 285 million dollars.



The direct investment in Turkey from the Gulf countries went up to US$ 552 million from US$ 111 million corresponding to 397 percent increase, in the January-May period of this year.

According to figures compiled by the Ministry of Economy, developments in the Turkish economy have also increased the interest of the countries located in the Gulf, Near East and Middle East, in Turkey.

The total amount of investments by Asian countries in Turkey increased by 122% from 422 million dollars in to 936 million dollars in the first 5 months of the year, while the amount of investment from countries in the Near East and Middle East region increased by 189% from 285 million dollars to 824 million dollars. The highest rate of increase in the said period was seen in the investment amount from the Gulf countries. Direct investment in Turkey from the Gulf countries increased from $ 111 million to $ 552 million corresponding to 397 percent.
