Turkey retaliates and suspends visa applications by US citizens
The USA had suspended handling all regular visa applications in Turkey as of October 8th 2017. An announcement was made on Twitter account of US Embassy yesterday that read “The nonimmigrant visa services of all US diplomatic missions in Turkey have been suspended”. This decision by the United States was made following the arrest of Metin TOPUZ a staff at the embassy for FETO charges.
The statement on Twitter said; “Recent events has forced the US government to reassess Turkey’s commitment to the security of US mission services and personnel in the country. Non-immigrant visa services have been suspended in all US diplomatic missions in Turkey, in order to reduce the number of visitors to our embassies and consulates in the process of evaluation.”
Towards midnight, Turkey retaliated and announced that visa applications of US citizens were suspended.
