Turkey is certainly one of most successful economies in the world with a remarkable GDP performance in spite of the recent global crisis.

The Turkish economy which was heavily dependent on agriculture until a couple of decades ago has gone through a major transformation and is now proud to have the capability to export industry products all over the world to include USA and the western block.

To parallel this development Turkish automotive industry has made great progress as well and Turkish made cars are sold all over Europe and the Middle East thus putting this sector on the leading in terms of generation of export revenues.

In fact it has been reported by the concerned minister only a short while ago that Turkey aims to produce 4 million vehicles by 2023.

Comparing this outstanding target to 1,2 million which is the number of vehicles manufactured in 2011 it is very clear how determined the country is to take the giant step mentioned in the title.

This determination was clearly expressed by Nihat Ergun (Turkey’s science, industry and technology minister) when he commented to Japanese Nikkei newspaper “We aim to increase our production 4 million vehicles by 2023”.

It was reported earlier that the minister had asked Japanese car producers like Toyota and Honda to increase their production in Turkey.

On the other hand it has been observed for quite a while now Turkey is ready to offer new incentives including tax reduction to increase foreign investments.

Based on reports provided by the industry Turkey sold 590,000 automobiles in 2011 and the target for the industry is to increase this number to 1 million within a few years.

Moreover, it has been reported that Japanese Nissan company is also interested in investing in Turkey,

It is a known fact that Japanese companies are top of the list for Turkey as far as advanced technology is concerned and that is why the government would be ready to provide every facility to bring said technology to Turkey, in the form of joint venture or direct foreign investment.

Indeed the minister has called on Japanese companies to join concerned projects, several times.

We also know the Turkey  is extremely eager to manufacture its own automobile and the government is very hopeful that Japanese companies will not deny their cooperation, in this regard.
