Turkey wants more Asian tourists to reach 50 million visitors annually

Culture and Tourism Minister Numan KURTULMUŞ said in a statement that Turkey will run new promotion campaigns to open to Asia markets and targets 50 million visitors annually by 2023. The minister added that despite the big propaganda carried out against Turkey, some 6 million people had visited Istanbul in the first six months of 2017, to include 540,000 visitors from Germany.

KURTULMUS mentioned that Turkey targeted 50 million tourists and US$ 50 billion annual tourism income  by 2023 which is the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey.

“To achieve these goals, we will diversify in both markets and products. We particularly have to focus on new markets in the Far East such as China, Japan, India and South Korea,” Kurtulmuş added.

The minister added that Turkey had to diversify its efforts in this field in terms of both markets and products. He went on to say the country needed to focus on new markets such as China, Japan, India and South Korea, especially in the Far East”. He said “I hope that through diversification Turkey will achieve these objectives, and of course we will organize special promotional campaigns in these countries.”
