Turkey’s President says he believes 2018 will be a much more successful year

President Erdoğan has made some important remarks about the Turkish economy in 2018 adding he is hopeful for developments to come. In an interview just before the year end he said “We will enter 2018 in a strong manner. We will conduct a more precise process regarding the road maps we have shared for 2018”.

We will open the way for investments to be made with BBP and BOT systems especially regarding diversification of investments and resources. If there are investments that I can say that is not impossible, we will go to the way of solving them from the national budget. If there are investments I can call “absolute must”, we will consider solving them via the national budget.

Another issue is that we have to sit down with our administration to talk about our interest policy again. Maintaining our interest policy with this approach will not affect our future in economy positively. If we want the private sector to invest, we need to take steps not to raise difficulties for them regarding investment and loan interest rates.

We will review our policies. We will sit down with related departments to discuss the issue in a narrow frame, after the PM and I return to Turkey.

The topic of interest is of great importance for future of Turkish economy. We will make an assessment in this regard. As far as savings are concerned, there are very serious savings in public spending and we will continue in this direction. I believe 2018 will be a much more successful year. “
