Turkey’s Transportation Minister heralds 5 hours by train from Istanbul to Sivas

Turkey’s Transportation Minister has announced that the “Ankara-Sivas High Speed ​​Train Line” will be completed by 2019, at the latest. The passengers coming from Sivas will reach Haydarpasa (Istanbul) in 5 hours with the extension of the YHT line running between Ankara-Pendik to Haydarpaşa.

The Minister informed that once the construction of the Ankara-Sivas High Speed ​​Train (YHT) Line – one of the important axes of the railway corridor that connects the Asian countries on the historical Silk Road – is completed, the duration of thetrain journey between Ankara and Sivas will be reduced to 2 hours and the journey between Sivas and Istanbul will be possible in 5 hours.

Turkey’s YHT operation is reported to have a line capacity of 1,213 km currently and the administration is working a t full speed to spread the system all over the country. The Minister said in this regard “We continue to work on all of Ankara, Kırıkkale, Yozgat and Sivas railway lines to make this more widespread to build a high-speed train network in east-west and north-south axes.”
