Turkish women take to the streets on Women's Day to protest violence

Within the scope of 8th March International Women’s Day, 16th Feminist Night March was realized at İstiklal Caddesi, in Istanbul. Women protested violence against women, sexual abuse and child abuse. On this occasion, thousands of women got together at the night parade in front of the French Cultural Center in Istanbul’s Beyoglu district with the slogan “Feminism: Our life, our rebellion, our struggle”

Turkish women who participated in the march, voiced their demands with slogans, zips, whistles and folk dances. Thousands of women of almost all sorts and ages carrying purple flags chanted slogans such as “Long live our feminist struggle, We are neither leaving streets nor squares, we won’t obey, keep quiet, we are not afraid”

On the other hand, similar demonstrations were also held in Eskişehir, Ankara, Izmir and Mersin on March 8th.
